Paul's Fulfilling Life

There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.

I woke up at 11am on a rainy Monday as I had taken leave after a long lesson day yesterday. Decided to go to SSA to do a praying session alone after I felt that my work is not flowing as smoothly as I wanted. After the session at Tampines Centre, took a bus to meet Peggy, Tammy & Elaine at Hilton Hotel Checker's Cafe for a buffet dinner. Since it was a long while that we met up, we ate & chatted for about 3.5 hrs before calling it a nite. I must say I enjoyed the session & the dinner very much. Peggy was touched by the birthday card that we have bought for her. The card was my choice and I didn't know I made the right choice when she said she liked the sunflower & the bear on the card. Will put up the photo that I took with them once I received from Peggy.

Mr Dominic Danaraj Pic courtesy of FTC Kaplan I had 2 ACCA subject lectures with my lecturer, Mr Dominic Danaraj today. As he was conducting the Business Analysis lecture about human resouce management, he mentioned a part that an organisation needs to select the "right" person for the job. An organisation needs will change so as to suit the changes of the enviornment around it. A person's needs will change too, as his goals and objectives will change as he seeks for better prospects due to the enviornment. He went on to say that if you were to go for an interview next time, don't ever mention that you are leaving because of the salary, but say the organisation's goals and objectives are no longer parallel with my objectives and goals, therefore I decide to move on. I agree with that. What do you think?

Because of my brother weekly church activity, he was late for the event. Thanks to his lateness, I managed to shake hands with the Guest of Honour, Minister of State for Health, Mr. Heng Chee How. He looks very young and very friendly, I must say. Luckily, my brother didn't miss the moment where my mum went to the stage to collect the award. Yesterday, my lady boss had a chat with me about how I did my tax computation nowadays. This was just about 3 months after her husband actually added some steps into my tax computation work. Since I thought she was just interested to find out about how I do them, and what were the steps & time taken to do each computation, I felt that it was only right for her to know, since she is a partner of the 2 CPA firms that I am working in now. Ever since the additional steps were implemented, I have not made any mistakes so far, therefore I didn't suspect anything amiss, although she did jot down some notes, which she said she would get it typed out. My lady boss was disturbed by the fact that my brother & mum was at the office last Sunday to help me move my stuff. I knew she would say to me that "I will get your colleagues to help u." My colleagues are also busy with their own shifting & majority of them are not that young. So who do you think Paul will get help if he really needs? They are my family and they are afraid that I may injure myself if I move heavy stuff due to my condition. I actually wanted to do everything myself, but they were worried as I had a busy non-stop week in the past week. They want me to have sufficient rest so they offered to help me. I was so angry today as Q's boss was pretty rude as I tried to open the office door as I was early for work today. He said to me, "Can u hurry up & open the door? " Excuse me, it doesn't mean that u are living in Bt Timah, it doesn't give u the liberty to talk to people in such a rude tone, even though u are the boss of Q! Stupid ya ya Papaya, who do u think u are?

I was back in the office in the afternoon & managed to pack all my stuff into the boxes. with my brother's & mum's help. The security officers and the chicken rice stallholder were surprised to see me back in office on a Sunday and with boxes. Finally it is done, and I am set to move to a new spot if any.

I heard these songs on 933 DJ, Zhiyong's radio drama, 暗巷2 yesterday. I must say that the finale of the drama is very good, although it was not what I expected. The songs are rather sad, so you can expect the finale to be sad too.

I will be back in office tomorrow. You heard it right, Working on a Sunday. This is because my office will be shrinking in size from Nov and my boss had only informed me to pack my stuff on Fri. The way he phrased it, " You may have to move." I could not be back today as I had a course to attend in the morning & class in the afternoon. These 3 singers are coming to Singapore in Jan 2008 for their concerts. I was telling Gingy that I am pleasantly surprised that Jay's most expensive ticket is the same as Jacky Cheung at $200. I just feel that the cool Jay don't justify the price of $200, even though his piano playing skills & are good. I feel that he does not pronounce his words clearly. His songs are like praying songs. I just wonder how the concert organisers justify their ticket prices nowadays. It will be interesting to see if 千里之外 is sang at Jay's or Uncle Fei's concert.

I met up with Kaka, Elaine mei, Terence & Wendy mei on Thursday at Citylink Mall New York New York Cafe for a catch up session, as it has been a while since we actually met up with one another as a group. The above photo with Kaka was taken with Wendy's new hp. I must be too stressed to notice that she had the same colour outfit as me, till Terence was talking about it. Recently, I have been trying to hunt all over Singapore for its black catridge (BJC 03) & colour catridge (BJC 05). The BJC 210SP was phased out some years ago, so locating its ink catridge seems very hard nowadays. I was telling my dad that the printer needs to be changed as I can't locate the cartidges. He said nowadays technology advances very fast and things get phased out fast too. He was agreeable that I get a new printer as they are cheap nowadays. He says that the manufacturer earns back the profits by selling you expensive catridges. My mum would like a fax cum printer, which I am against due to the following reasons. I had an interesting conversation with mum last night. I was telling her that I am not really into the religious stuff, as I believe no matter what you do, you are the one that is responsible for your action, not your religion. She was asking me how I know to differeniate between right or wrong if I don't believe so deep in SSA. I told her I had studied history in secondary school for 4 years. I always have this philosphy that " Do not repeat what the historians or yesteryear people have done wrong, so you would not tend to go wrong". I went on to tell her that I discovered that people who have studied history tend not to believe so deeply in religion. I wonder if you guys believe in this sentence?

I wonder what he meant by that, because it seems that he is always the one who is causing the disturbance as he always sit down with his audit staff and yak a lot of rubbish with other colleagues. Decided to give myself a change in blogskin, after so many things happen around me lately. Maybe a change is a good start of better things to come in the following weeks or months. My office will be shrinking in size, from 3 units to 2 units from 1 Nov 2007. Who would like to be paired with in my area? This is a month for birthdays as about 6 of my friends are celebrating their birthday this month. One of the most interesting birthday present was purchased for Darling as she said she needs a rice cooker for her new house. I was asking her, birthday gift become housewarming gift , haha!!! I always believe in giving practical gifts so that people can use them and like them. Hope that she likes the gift and put it into good use. I hope I didn't shock her when I told her that my brother will be delivering her gift to her hubby's house today. Hahaha!!!

My work hasn't been flowing smoothly as there is the lady boss and that woman who are setting so many rules that is hindering my usual progress. Nowadays, I have to sign off to prove that I have checked all my casting and other nitty gritty stuff. That woman has to check my work after that. This was something that she was not happy about and complain to my boss that she has TOO MUCH WORK TO DO!!! Therefore I am safe. Lady boss wonder why I never follow as instructed. She say she is not against me or anything. But as in my previous post, I highlighted the disparity in treatment. Like what Darling said, I have to tolerate till I see the light. I was on my way to class yesterday when I was banged into by an ah kua, causing me to fall backwards. The unfortunate thing was the person only knew how to apologise but didn't help me up. Now my butt is in pain. I just can't imagine that my luck is that bad!!!
