On Alert

Just now, there was a Malay guy, who claimed to be our neighbour and he claimed that he was looking for me & my brother as we called him to visit us. We were asked to come down by our dad when he shouted for us. That face at the door was certainly not a familar face to me, so how could he say he was looking for me? My mum & I suspected that the guy could be craving for drugs or wanting money. It was lucky that he left after apologising to us after 5 mins, when I said that I do not know him.   Mum warned Dad not to reveal my name or my brother’s name when someone whom he is not familar with claims to be looking for any of us. I guess after this incident, I will not leave my door open so as to check on the door viewer for strangers.

Michael Jackson-This Is It

I was asked by my manager to join her for this movie on Wednesday night for the screening on the next day’s evening as her daughter was not free to catch the movie with her. Since I was hoping to catch this movie, so I agreed to it immediately. The movie is actually an edited version of the rehearsals that he had for the 50 London concerts that he was supposed to have if he was still around. I was quite impressed by his professionalism. Despite the comments about his ill health, he saw through the preparation process for the concerts. He was indeed a guy who really knows his music and really puts his heart & soul into the process. Among the songs that he performed in the movie, I liked this song best. I leave it for you guys to find out why this song is my favourite. Just a note, the movie only airs for 2 weeks.

Happy Birthday to Wai Ling

Image
Tomorrow is one of my best friend, Wai Ling’s birthday. I must say it has been great to have a friend like her who gives me advice when I need it. She has been a great listener to my troubles too. I guess our friendship has come a long way since the misunderstanding we had some years ago. It is a friendship which I would describe with this new song by Joi Chua   But knowing this friend of mine, she likes his songs a lot, so here it is Just like this song, I hope our friendship last as long as we are around!!! Happy birthday, my friend. May what you wish for come true for you!!!

New Songs

I find these two songs not bad, and I would like to thank Andrina & Jonathan for introducing the songs to me.

Spread

Went to catch this movie after my weekly prayer session. This movie is a comedy centres on a moral tale of Los Angeles gigolo, Nikki, his older, wealthy client Samantha and a waitress Heather, for whom he has real feelings for. Nikki, who has slept his way into a life of privilege, shares his secrets with us as he hosts parties and beds scores of women, all while living it up at the Hollywood Hills home of a middle-aged female attorney, Samantha. Everything goes well until Nikki meets a gorgeous waitress named Heather, who, unbeknownst to him, is playing the same game that he is. As the truth of their life unravels, they find themselves sexually charged by a game of one-upsmanship that has them dining at fine restaurants and crashing posh parties, until the truth of their lives forces them to choose between love and money. I personally feel that it is a good movie as it depicts the realities of life. I would give this movie 3.5/5.

Lobo Week

This week was a “lobo” week at work for me as there was not many audited or unaudited financial statements that were produced by the audit dept for us to work on the tax provisions. When there was one, that one was a problematic one with lots of stuff without proper referencing. It was done by that colleague who caused me to lose my temper at him the other time. This time, I decided to let my senior partner know about this. Immediately, a circular was drafted and circulated to the entire office to ensure that there was proper refrencing done. But the funny part is, the circular was passed to the audit dept for signing and circulation first, but the audit partner stopped the staff from signing it, saying that she needs to explain to them before asking them to sign. I think the English written in the circular is not hard to comprehend or understand. What is up her sleeve? It is pretty obvious that the partner is trying to cover up the staff misgivings.

Surprise Birthday Celebration for CK

I was activated by Jas quite last minute yesterday to be at the surprise birthday for CK last nite. Since it has been quite a while I caught up with him, I agreed immediately, even though it meant that I would have a packed day travelling around Singapore from East to Central & to West to meet the group. Dinner was zi cha at Clementi, before the group headed to Clementi Partyworld for our usual activity. I hope that CK enjoyed his birthday surprise from the 10 of us. Jonathan, myself, Jas, Yan Ling, Karen, Albert, Alex, Jeremy & Thomas.

What A Wonderful KTV Sound System

Image
I was invited to Andrina’s house for a private ktv session with Jonathan and Lance. Andrina’s friend, Jonathan Ya was also there with us. I enjoyed the 6 hrs session very much as I was taught by Andrina how to project my voice better to sing better. Apparently, she says my voice gets a little too low and I need to adjust the keys of the song to get it right. Plus, she feels that I can sing louder. I have to be more confident, otherwise I may lose my voice soon if I sing too low. I didn’t know that she is a voice coach, that teaches people on voice projections. I was rather impressed by the BMB Karaoke System that she had set up in her entertainment room, as I would call it, as the system allows you to adjust the keys to a song. The system also has a USB Hard Disk, which has a volume of 1.5 TB. Can you imagine how many MTVs can be put into the system? I was told that I had to do a –3 for this song I was told that I had to do a +3 for this song I didn’t know that this song

Please Be Responsible

I am sure most of you have the experience of having your lunch in office, especially when it rains, and you need to pack your food back to . One of my colleagues actually went to pack Yong Tau Foo for lunch. I guess he/she was unaware that the food carrier that she was carrying her food had a hole, as the chili sauce and sweet sauce dripped onto the carpet of the walkway from the lift lobby to the carpet in my office. My boss was rather upset that the carpet was diritied and no one refused to own up. Eventually the carpet was shampooed by the cleaners of my office building. I wonder who is this irresponsible person? Is it so hard to say sorry?

Why Push Push Around?

Image
My brother had lost his wallet on Sunday at the vicinity of Kallang MRT Station. I am a little surprised by the “little pushy actions” by SBS Transit Ltd for his lost Season Pass. It was not stated on the SBS Transit website on how the lost Season Pass could be replaced, so I helped my brother to call the SBS Transit hotline at 1800-2872727. I was referred to Transitlink hotline at 1800-2255663, as the officer told me that the website did not state about how the Season Pass could be replaced. My brother called the hotline, only to discover that he could only report the loss of his NSF Concession Pass, but not his SBS Season Pass. If this is the case, why did the officer at SBS Transit directed me to them in the 1st place? Are the staff well-trained in such situations? Also, the officer who attended to me, his accent does not seem to be a local to me. I have told my brother to head down to the SBS Transit HQ to report the loss and get a replacement. I wonder how this is going to

I stumbled upon this song when I was trying to find another music video. I thought it was nice. There is a Cantonese version for this song as well. Which version do you prefer?

Busy Start But Light Ending

I was on leave on Monday as I knew I would be a tired from attending Elaine’s wedding the night before, and I felt that I needed a break & I was afraid that my young boss may ask us to clear our past entitlement by Feb next year. Was back to work on Tuesday. The first day without the my Malay receptionist. It meant that I had to do some of her admin work that relates to our department. I heard from my manager that she had wanted to say her goodbye to me the day before, but didn’t get the chance to. I actually said my goodbye to her on last Fri when I told her to take care and wished her all the best. Maybe she was too busy packing her stuff, as a result, she didn’t remember that I had said that. My manager was surprised that I was able to be on such good terms with the receptionist, although we had some differences in our work before. I guess nowadays, I try to forgive and forget. Like what Winston Churchill said, “ You made enemies in your life, Good. This shows that you stood u

Elaine’s Wedding

Yesterday was my ACCA classmate’s customary wedding day. Tammy, Peggy & I were invited to the wedding dinner that was held at 天厨 restuarant at Copthorne King’s Hotel. Since I had only a vague idea of where the hotel is, therefore, I took a cab there as I certainly did not want my wear for the night to be soaked in sweat if I could not find the place. I like the ambience of the restaurant which gave me a peaceful feel, but I thought the pillars spoiled a little of the view. The wedding emcee tried too hard to funny, but the food was great. Congrats to the couple once again, Hua Lim & Elaine. I will upload the pictures once I got them from Peggy.

Singapore, A Place To Call Home

Recently, I had a friend who had wanted to apply for Permanent Residence in Singapore. He thought that only as ‘S’ Pass holder could apply for Permanent Residence. But from my understanding. work permit holders are also eligible, otherwise how does my Malaysian SBS bus driver friends are able to get their Permanent Residency in Singapore? I was glad that I was able to help him clarify this doubt through the ICA website, when I downloaded the application form for him. I asked him to fill up the form and get his boss to certify that he is working in his company. Apparently, his boss does not want to assist him to apply for PR, which I wonder why. The CPF contribution to pay is lesser than the Foreign Worker Levy. He was telling me that he wishes to upgrade himself and study and work here at the same time, as Singapore is more safe and stable than his home country. The pay is also better. Hopefully, his boss will acede to his request.

Some of you who know me will know that I am a HK drama fanatic. I know that this show came out about 2 years ago, but I only managed to catch this drama when Channel 8 broadcast it in the past two months or so, as I was not able to find the show online to catch it. I was quite captivated by the story as I would not have never imagined having so much wealth can bring happiness and sadness to a family. I am particularly impressed with the acting skills of these 5 characters. Louise Lee 李司棋 陳豪 鍾嘉欣- Linda Chung 林峰 My mum was saying 林峰 sounds like my brother’s Chinese name. I really enjoy the show very much. Hopefully I can catch Part 2 online soon.   Pictures from TVB.Com
