  The IRAS Volunteer Group Gathering – 16 Aug 2014 Our once in  two months gathering arranged by me & fellow volunteer, Meiqi was at Marina Square. It was a gathering of multiple firsts. A gathering that has us moving from place to place. We moved from Manhattan Fish Market at Marina Square to TCC Citylink then to the open area outside Citylink Mall. It was the 1st time we chatted till 1am plus and we would like to thank Helen for sending us home with her car. It has been a wretched week for me so far. Even my mum could tell that I was feeling rather tense and stressed up recently and have encouraged me to keep a diary and try to relax a little. It has been a while since I physically keep a diary and pen my thoughts in there as I did not see the need to do so. Although keeping a blog is about the same as keeping a diary, but certain things, like private or work matters are best kept to a minimal as I had bad experiences before of sharing my thoughts online, and receiving brickbats for what I have written or gag order served from my boss not to share work related matters on the world wide web. Public Transport Woes I have gotten my SG Enable Card for about a month plus. So far, the fellow commuters & bus captains have been pretty helpful upon seeing my pass. It has been a while once again, since I updated this blog of mine. It used to be done almost everyday, till to weekly, till now its only done when I am free. It has been good to know that my blog still has people that wishes to read more about what has been happening to me, even after so many years that I set up this blog, which I believe was 8 years ago. National Day Parade I had the honour to attend the National Day Parade, albeit it was the Preview for the 1st time. It was definitely very different from watching the Parade from the comforts of your home and live at the float. Some of you may not have known that I used to have a hobby that some people that find it a waste of time, which is travelling on buses and learning new routes when I was schooling. Although it has been quite a while since I learnt the bus routes, I find my knowledge is still pretty useful especially nowadays train breakdowns & delays are pretty common nowadays. Recently, I knew a gal online through the Ok Cupid. It has been a while since I know people online & come out with them as I feel that I do not really meet by someone whom I have chemistry with, or some people minded about my physical disability and did not wish to continue their friendship with me. To me, its their loss. I still made some female friends in this site, whom I am still in contact with. I was quite surprised that this gal was pretty keen to meet me, especially so less than a week after having got my number. I was wondering why. After having got my number, she started to whatsapp or sms me, asking when we could meet. It did not occur to me that she had depression before and I had appeared to look like her ex boyfriend (according to what she told me when we met.) It has been a while since I update this  blog of mine. I have been rather busy with my work and other activities that required my attention. Form C-S & Form C e-filing My boss has entrusted me with this project to liaise with IRAS on their new Form C e-filing portal. It was supposed to start on 11 July, however, according to the authorities, the start date has been delayed. I am actually looking forward to this as this would give us an additional time to file the income tax returns for our clients by 15 days. Changes to management in my workplace Due to a partner’s withdrawal in the associated firm, my boss has placed more emphasis on our punctuality at work and performance at work. This message, although directed at the latecomers at my place, and a particular staff, who always complained that she has to do my boss’ personal stuff & mundane work tasks ,  meant that my returning colleague and myself have to take on  more responsibilities. I had been busy over the past two months especially with work and some volunteer work as well. My friends who know me will know that I will be busy with personal tax deadline and pro bono tax work at the IRAS VES e-filing exercise. This year’s VES exercise seems to be one of the toughest years as almost every weekend, we will be meeting by some uncompromising taxpayers who would either ask a lot of questions that are tax related, but not satisfied with the answer given  or insist that their taxes should be filed in a certain manner as per previous records. It is fortunate that I managed to have a strong group of adult volunteers that were attached to us and we certainly had a lot of fun. My relaxation was this play which I enjoyed with my friends from the IRAS VES Group. I enjoyed the play very much as it brought back fond memories of old times.
