Music & Lyrics

Alex Fletcher is a washed-up '80s pop star who's been reduced to working the nostalgia circuit at county fairs and amusement parks. The charismatic and talented musician gets a chance at a comeback when reigning diva Cora Corman invites him to write and record a duet with her, but there's a problem--Alex hasn't written a song in years, he's never written lyrics, and he has to come up with a hit in a matter of days. Enter Sophie Fisher, Alex's beguilingly quirky plant lady, whose flair for words strikes a chord with the struggling songwriter. On the rebound from a bad relationship, Sophie is reluctant to collaborate with anyone, especially commitment-phobe Alex. As their chemistry heats up at the piano and under it, Alex and Sophie will have to face their fears--and the music--if they want to find the love and success they both deserve.

Went to watch this movie with Wendy. I find that this movie has a lot of retro feel in it, quite a refreshing change from the movies that are being shown recently. I recommend it to all the people who likes retro stuff. Overall the acting by Hugh Grant & Drew Barrymore is very good and the storyline is not draggy and it is pretty realistic. I would rate the movie 4 out of 5.

Before the show, we went to visit Jason. He looks fresher today, but the nurse is still giving me the grim assessment she gave me 2 weeks ago, which is he may not be able to recover fully and be a normal person like he was.

After the movie, we had a quick dinner at Ajisen before taking the train to visit Rebec. It was quite easy to locate her place, although we nearly made a mistake at the lift landing. I guess she was quite touched to see the both of us. We had a nice chat about her operation & other stuff before leaving her place. Auntie was touched by our visit too, as we told her where we stayed, and she said it was far. Its ok, auntie. I have realised the importance of friendship for quite a while and know that true friends are hard to come by. Rebec is really like a sister to me.

After the visit, Wendy and I shared a cab home.
