Fuming Mad Tuesday

Monday

I finally could not tahan the strong air conditioning at my office and decided to take the coat which I bought from G2000 some time back and wear it in the office.

As expected, got some comments from people who are just too kaypoh about such things, instead of working during the peak period and I antipicated this to go on at least for the next week or so

Q: Wah, someone so handsome today, where he going to later?

I : Wah, so handsome today, going for a matchmaking session later?

Prawn Mgr to I: Bing Fong going to Germany later to catch World Cup.

BC: Wah, attending wedding dinner later.

W: U look great in this, is it tailor made?

This shows the productivity of my firm. Seems like I am the only one who is willing to strive & slog for the firm, but overworked & underpaid???

Tuesday

"The company has to retain proper records of its financial transactions for 7 years from the relevant year of assessment. Any invoices, vouchers and other documents supporting the accounts must also be kept for 7 years."

E.g.
Records for 1997 (year of assessment 1998) should be kept up to 31.12.2004
Records for 2004 (year of assessment 2005) should be kept up to 31.12.2011

The bitch and the prawn manager asked me to check on one of the records of the clients with regards to the tax matters from 1992 to 1998. I knew of the 7 year ruling as shown above, but knew that I had to find out something as the bitch is always capable of stabbing me in the back in front of LB.

I not only got an earful from the tax officer, but also the bitch asked me later if the 1992 to 1998 has been finalised. I just told her what was shown in bold above as told by the tax officer. I also went to check with my client, but he was not able to help as he had joined the organisation on a much later date.

I think I will feedback this issue to my boss tomorrow. I will suggest to send these two senior citizens for refresher course. I think I know the reason for pursuing the matter, but I can't reveal it here as it involves my client's confidential info.

Was fuming mad, as I stepped out of my office in the afternoon and went for a prospect interview at SP. I was offered an okay renumeration package, considering the new nature that I will be taking on. But I was quite pissed off by the second interviewer, who thought that she knew a lot about my current job, and started yaking all the wrong things in front of me and her dept head. I dun think I wish to work under such a person. The second thing was the job was a contract position with not much chance of a renewal as the position may be outsourced when the length of the contract is about to end. With such uncertainity, it is another reason why I will not go for the job if offered.

Met up with Jason after the interview for tea @ NYDC Heeren, before heading off to buy the JJ's DVD (The one advertised on TV, who wants please let me know!!!) & DVD Recordable Disc before heading home.

For Wendy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO WENDY

MAY WHAT YOU WISH FOR COME TRUE FOR U!
HOPE THAT OUR FRIENDSHIP CAN LASY FOR
AS LONG AS WE ARE AROUND.
STAY CHEERFUL ALWAYS!!!

Brother's Birthday Celebration & JJ's Concert

Woke up at 11.35am yesterday and suggested to my brother that I bring him to Sakae Sushi for a birthday treat. It was his birthday yesterday. Just as we were planning to step out of the house, Mum suggested that we meet her for lunch instead. She said it was brother's birthday. But it ended up I had to pay for the meal later. Mum was telling me not to be too stingy towards family members & generous towards my friends. Was wondering why mum said that? I think I treat my family members the same way I treat my friends, but my family is always close to my heart.

Lunch was at a Japanese Resturant at Ang Mo Kio Central. The service was ok and the serving of the Bento was filling, considering the size & variety of dishes and it was at a low price too, considering that the three of us spent less than $40 for the meal.

Went home after that and prepared for 林俊杰 Concert. Was supposed to meet Caifeng at 5pm at Aljunied MRT for dinner, but was late as I was preparing an interview on Tuesday. I am just going there for a try since the job scope will be very different from what I am currently doing now.

Dinner was at a dim sum eatery at Gelyang. After that, took a train to Kallang and took a bus to the Indoor Stadium. I nearly forgotten that it was the NDP Rehersal yesterday. That made the jam even worse. In the end, we alighted a stop earlier and walked to the venue.

The concert was overall very good as JJ showed off his talent in playing the piano and drums, using his mouth to make music and his dance moves. He also surprised us with some of his costume changes. I liked the one which he was dressed as a general, when he sang 曹操 and the part where he got the dancers to train us for a simple dance routine when he was singing 就是我

However, the bad thing about the concert was that it was too short, in my opinon as he only managed to sing his songs from his 编号89757 & 曹操 albums, and he sang very few songs from his first two albums, as he dabbled his hand into singing Jay Chou's 黑色幽默,当你 and Ah Mei's 记得. He also asked his special guests, Ah Do & Jin Sha to sing their songs as he went for his coustme changes.

Had a hard time hailing a cab at the Indoor Stadium when the concert ended at 11.35pm. We walked to the bus stop and took a bus to Suntec City and tried our luck there. Still there was no cab. In the end, we ended up calling a cab instead. I sent Caifeng & her sister back home first, before heading home myself. It was 1.15am when I got home. So tired, after two nights of fun and the thought of going back to work tomorrow sux.

Work Musings

Had been busy for the past few days due to the soccer matches. Caught Germany - Ecuador match, Portgual -Mexico match, Italy-Czech Republic match & a bit of France v Togo match. An update of what's going on the past few days with me.

Tuesday

LB was asking why was I keeping the clients' tax files of documents, despite the promise by IRAS that they are converting to an electronic filing & documentation system. I was quite stunned by the question. The new system, even if in place, does not mean that you can do away with all the document filing as the system will slow down due to the number of public listed companies & private limited companies in Singapore. Given the choice, I will still prefer the current system that has all the physical paper documents.

Wednesday

K tendered her resignation. I was surprised that I was the 1st to know, as I was expecting Q to know it first as they were ex-colleagues. I was not surprised by the fact that she found a better prospect, as she mentioned to me before that she was not really happy with the bonus given. I guess she didn't get any pay increment as well, just like me. She was asked to do audit besides her accounting jobs.

Friday

Met up with Richard, Rebecca & Jason at Marina Square for Billy Bombers. Rebec was a bit sad that Huiyu can't come at the last minute. So it was 3 bodyguards and a gal again. All of us had full course dinner. I felt that it was good & quite worth it, considering the serving and food that we had.

Went for KTV next, and sang till 2.30am. Was surprised that it was raining as we waited for our cabs. My mood was spoiled by the fact that mum smsed & called me to get home at about 2am. I was angered by the sms, " Your dad drive taxi, not back yet, then u so enjoy". My mind was a blank as I felt that I am already 27 & I knew how to take care of myself, and furthermore, I was using my own money to enjoy. I am not spending a single cent of my parents' money.

My three friends were surprised that I was still being controlled, despite of my age. Got to thank Jason for helping me to tell my mum about the outing last nite, when she called.

For Darling - Get Well Soon

Our poor friend, Darling has been bitten by the sickness bug since she was in China. She called me today and told me that she might not be able to make it for Friday's gathering as she is running a fever and sore throat.

She told me that she caught the bug from an inconsiderate Shanghai traveller, who was having the flu bug while travelling with them. I feel that the person is too much. You know that u r sick and u still travelled and spread your germs to people, let other people suffer together with you, and can't enjoy their holiday too.

You are so inconsiderate.
I never had good impression of China people
They are rude and brute.

It Made Me Sick Too

IT MAKES ME SICK
Schoolgirl is beaten up by gang of young teens
Clip of attack makes its way to handphones

Was reading through Thursday's New Paper when I saw the article. I am very shocked that nowadays young gals who are under 18 years old are doing this shocking deed.

“真是市风日下, 无法无天.“
Read the article and u will know what I meant.

Have You Heard Of Wedding Gift Being Given Twice?

I was stunned when my mum said she was going to give my cousin, J a red packet for the wedding and asked me not to give another wedding gift to her.

I was not stunned by her words, "giving red packet", but the second part, " me getting another wedding gift for her." I just wonder what she is thinking sometimes. Doesn't she know that a wedding gift or red packet can be given only once? It is considered not right to give twice for a wedding.

Is she trying to hint something that has not even fallen into place for me? I wonder?

Granny's B-Day

These are the photos taken from my Grandma's birthday last nite. It was her 82nd birthday bash. It was at the same place for the past year. The Concourse, Teochew Garden. Fortunately, I was not questioned about my disappearance from the gathering last year, since I sat a table apart from the big aunt. My family was the last one to arrive as my dad had to go and get hold of his cab, and he came back to pick us up. My relatives were pretty angry that we were late. But I think my relatives were not that understanding, so I can't be bothered anyway.

Dad decided to take my suggestion and parked his cab at my office building carpark as the parking was so much cheaper. We walked to the resturant. and tried to locate our relatives. Dad was quite pissed that the waiteress just turned away when he asked where my relatives were. He was so angry that he didn't notice that I was right behind him when he stepped back. I just fell. This was just the first incident of bad service. More were to come later. My dad was seething with anger as he was settling down his seat

Took the seat beside my grandma on the second table, and started to ask her about her recent health. I think she was happy to see me, since it had been a while that he saw me. To me, the gathering was not a thing at all, as I didn't enjoy it at all, not with these nosey people around.

The service of the waiteress started to get worse as the 10 course dinner progressed. She did not change my plate after serving us the veggie. We had chicken before that, so u could imagine how my plate were to look like, after eating the chicken. It was filled with chicken bones and the sauce of the dish. The waitress seemed oblivious to that. In the end, my 4th aunt had to help herself to the clean plates located at the near side of our table. We had to top up our own drinks too.

I must say that the food was of ok standard, but the service really sux. If I was the one to select the resturant, I would have choosen the one at my office building, Keypoint instead, where I think the service should be better.

Grandma's B-Day Celebration Tonight

My grandma will be having her birthday celebration tonite. It will be the same stupid resturant that has poor service, Teochew Garden @ Concourse, which is near my work place.

It has been a long time since I saw my grandma, my uncles & my aunts. I think the last meeting was CNY. Anyway, I am not interested to meet my aunts anyway, as they tend to gossip about their brothers behind our backs.

If they dare to comment about my "disappearance" last year tonight, I am going to tell them, " One of your sons also didn't appear last year, and I sought permission from my dad before I went for my event that was planned in advance. You have no right to say me since u r only my aunt. You are not my parent.

Doc Orders Paul To Stay Home

Have not been feeling well since Tuesday, but had to drag till today afternoon to see a doctor. I had to drag myself out of my bed. Took a cab to work as it was going to rain as it was going to rain. Glad that it was the right move as it poured heavily as the cab headed towards Serangoon Central.

Was not surprised that my table was cluttered with documents, some of which were not mine. Seriously, I was quite pissed. It is common sense that one should clean up after use but these people don't know basic courtesy? And u guys are older than me and u need me to coach u on this?

Luckily was back at work for half a day before I went to visit the doc. As there was this particular sports association client called me up asking me why there was no tax computation. done for them. I told her that I was just following what my predecessor had done since we took over the tax matters in 2003. My predecessor didn't do any tax computation and my boss did not issue any change in insturctions when I took over this job to now. She asked me how come the tax computation was not done and there was no capital allowances claimed?

I just told her that I had to seek clearance from my boss before I can proceed further as I do not think we charged them any fee for the tax service rendered.

Soon it was dearing lunchtime, I sought clearance from my lady boss to go & pay a visit to the doctor. The doctor was good. He gave me 2 days of MC to rest at home. Was shocked to hear that Darling had a more serious cough and flu than me and was given 4 days MC. I guess it was 水土不服, due to her recent China trip. Hope can see her on the planned gathering at Marina Square on 23 June.

Exam Finally Over

Finally can heave a sigh of relief that my papers are over and I may officially start my break till 21 August 2006. the day where my results are scheduled to be out. At the same time, I can also kickstart my job hunt. Been wanting to leave the sickening place and seek a new challenge and hopefully, a higher remuneration package.
The picture shown above was my exam venue for this term. In fact it has been my exam venue for my past 4 seatings. The Singapore Expo. It has been an unlucky venue for me as this was where I started the failings. I hope the streak will end here this round.
The papers were of the professional standard. Although I could answer most of the questions and completed most of the questions, I wonder if I can pass. I am feeling not so confident this round after failing by just a few marks last round. Overconfidence could kill.
Just now when I was running through my e-mails, I got this email from IRAS.
Dear Lee Bing Fong,
Congratulations on being awarded the 2006 e-Filing Volunteer - Outstanding (or Commendation) Award! You were nominated by Society for the Physically Disabled for this award in recognition of your commitment, service and leadership qualities, and good understanding of e-Filing system. We would like to invite you to the Volunteer e-Filing Service (VES) Appreciation Ceremony to receive the award from Mrs Tan Chee Koon, CEO of National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre.
You can also invite one guest to attend the ceremony with you to share in your achievement! Please see attached e-invite for the programme and RSVP details.
Thank you.
Mum was asking me who I wanted to ask along to join in the award ceremony? She was suggesting two ladies. (You guys can try to put your guess in the comment box). If they can't make it, she will take leave from her part time job and join me for the event.
Mum always put me in a difficuit position, I dunno how to put this thing across to them, Although they knew that I won the award some time back. Just want to tell mum, when I find a gal suitable to be my girlfriend or my future wife, I will let her know.
Happy guessing!!!

No Interesting Blogskins With Comment Tag

I was getting bored with my old blogskin / template. I thought I was able to find a new one, which I did intitally at Blogskins , but the template that I found had no comments tag function and the colour of the words makes it hard to read.

In the end, I chose one from the generic templates at Blogger again. This one I think is better, more plain and allows me to put a lot of interesting stuff.

Hope this layout makes navigation more comfortable.

Exam Blues

I guess I need help. Am suffering from the blues after the horrendous tax paper on Wednesday. I am slowly checking into the stress clinic. And mum, please stop nagging for a while can?

Currently only on Lecture 3 of my audit notes and I still have Paper 2.4 to go. Let's hope I can make it on 13 & 14 Jun.

****Prays hard****
Wish me luck then, think I need lots of it
This is especially so after some stupid client was flooding my office web-based e-mail with Withholding Tax Questions. The b*** continued to email me even as I told her that I was on leave. Some people just dun understand English. I think I should do it in Bahasa Indonesia then, since the client is Indonesia-based one. I can't publish the e-mail exchange in here as there are some confidential info.
It also explains why I may have screwed up in an interview at one of the Big Four today. Stupid me, shouldn't have said I need a change of enviornment and a wider exposure as well. The interviewer said I can't can't convince her. Looks like I just have to pick up from here and look for a new job.

Cars - The Movie

After taking moviegoers magically into the realm of toys, bugs, monsters, fish, and superheroes, the masterful storytellers and technical wizards at Pixar Animation Studios ("The Incredibles," "Finding Nemo," "Monsters, Inc."), and Academy Award®-winning director John Lasseter ("Toy Story," "Toy Story 2," "A Bug’s Life"), hit the road with a fast-paced comedy adventure set inside the world of cars. Lightning McQueen (voice of OWEN WILSON), a hotshot rookie race car driven to succeed, discovers that life is about the journey, not the finish line, when he finds himself unexpectedly detoured in the sleepy Route 66 town of Radiator Springs. On route across the country to the big Piston Cup Championship in California to compete against two seasoned pros, McQueen gets to know the town’s offbeat characters –including Sally (a snazzy 2002 Porsche voiced by BONNIE HUNT), Doc Hudson (a 1951 Hudson Hornet with a mysterious past, voiced by PAUL NEWMAN), and Mater (a rusty but trusty tow truck voiced by LARRY THE CABLE GUY) – who help him realize that there are more important things than trophies, fame and sponsorship. The all-star vocal cast also includes free-wheeling performances by racing legend Richard Petty and Cheech Marin. Fueled with plenty of humor, action, heartfelt drama, and amazing new technical feats, CARS is a high octane delight for moviegoers of all ages.

I went to watch this movie with 2 guys and a gal. My partners were Richie, Rebec, & Jason. I was glad that the guys liked the seats that I have choosen for them, At the top centre row of seats. We watched quite a late show, considering the fact that all of us took a cab home after the movie. Rebec was saying that she was honoured to have 3 bodyguards to protect her. 1 of them even shared a cab home with her!

I would give this movie 4 out of 5 stars. Thanks for the realities of life shown in the movie.

Before the movie, we had dinner at Gailee & Friends at Cineleisure Orchard. Its a cafe that served like Cafe Cartel of the old, where we had to write down our orders on a piece of order form and pay later at the cashier before food was served. But unlike Cafe Cartel, there wasn't any service charges levied. The food was not bad but again the service was not that fantastic as the waiter and waitress kept making mistakes about what we ordered. The prices were a bit on the high end but considering the amount of food we had, I guessed it was worth it. It could have been more, if not for the UOB card discount.

For Wendy & Rebecca

Wonder why some people go into a relationship just by looking at how a person looks, instead of thinking how to build trust in the relationship?

Looks are just the face of a person. The face does not reflect the truth in the person's character. Trust is builit in a relationship over time. It also depends on the both parties' character, family background, upbringing & religious teachings (if any). For some people, they are also influenced by the enivornment and peer pressure.

Looks are easy to develop. Nowadays people can just go into the beauty parlours or plastic surgeons, spend some money and change the way they look. Trust is something that money cannot buy. It is reliant on one's action. A wrong move can make you lose the trust of a person and you will need a while to regain it back.

Trusting your partner is more important than just judge him or her by the way they look. Money can buy look but not trust.

BGR - Is It Important Now?

I was reading Wendy's blog yesterday. What she wrote triggered my memories about how I chased a rich, beautiful gal when I was in my secondary school days. I still remember the day she rejected me. It was on my birthday. She came to my house to return the birthday present I gave her. It was her birthday the day before.

I still remembered passing her present to her mum that day as she was not around. I didn't expect her to reject the present. To her, I think she just want me to stop chasing her. I was so sad that I cried for 2 days, because of this. I guess u won't believe that I chased her for 3 years during my secondary school days. I never fall so deeply in love for a gal. I think this feeling will stay buried in the deep confides of my heart till the day I die.

AF was asking me over MSN to get a gf. I told her I haven't found my Ms Right yet and I feel that I am still young. Rebecca was suggesting that since AF talk so much, get AF to recommend one for me. I doubt I will ask her to recommend as I do not want a gf who is too nerdy or studious, like her.

This mood made me download 2 songs that describe my feelings. 二十二 by David Tao & Superwoman by Cao Ge. I must say its nice and Rebecca & Wendy likes them too after I sent to them.

18 Days to JJ's concert! I can't wait!!!!

Dinner @ Rice Table With Jason & Huiyu

Was out with Jason & Huiyu last night to this resturant that I recommended previously on my blog. The Rice Table Buffet Resturant at Suntec City Branch.

We had a good time there, save for the moment that a bowl slipped out of our tray as I was fishing for my food. The bowl broke and flew out of the resturant. We were seated near the curtain seat. Fortunately, there was no one outside, otherwise the consequences would be hard to imagine.

Was eating and chatting happily about the planned Kukop trip in Aug.I had spoken to Darling via MSN before I met up with Jason & Huiyu. Darling won't be joining us for the trip. Perhaps, she is really busy? I will be putting up the list of people who should be going after my papers on 14 June. Should I forget, please remind me?

During the meal, got a unwelcome call from the AF, who said that I should be at home studying instead of hanging out with my friends. She was saying that she might be able to help me with my ACCA. I felt like telling her, you are not my mum, so please don't lecture me like you think you are. Besides you have passed your ACCA, I also have friends and relatives who have passed it as well. I would rather ask them than to ask you if I need help.

After being chased out by the waiter, we wanted to watch Da Vinci Code, but the show was quite late, so we went to Starbucks for a coffee break instead. Huiyu asked me not to worry so much about my ACCA as she said it is not easy.

After the coffee and long chat, we headed home.

X Men - The Last Stand

In X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, the final chapter in the "X-Men" motion picture trilogy, a "cure" for mutancy threatens to alter the course of history. For the first time, mutants have a choice: retain their uniqueness, though it isolates and alienates them, or give up their powers and become human. The opposing viewpoints of mutant leaders Charles Xavier, who preaches tolerance, and Magneto, who believes in the survival of the fittest, are put to the ultimate test – triggering the war to end all wars.

The story started with how Jean Grey became an X-Men , then it continued from Scott Summers managed to find her back from her death in X-Men 2. Her return was to have a devastating effect on the rest of mutants & X-Men. Some lives were lost.

How was she stopped from doing the deeds? Did she choose Logan or Scott? I leave these questions unanswered for you guys to enjoy the show.

Overall, I enjoyed the show. I liked the character of Storm (played by Halle Berry, ex Bond girl) & the Professor (played by Patrick Stewart of Star Trek fame). I will give the movie a rating of 4 out of 5.

Had watched the movie with Jason at Causeway Point Cineplex. We had Hawaiian Pizza for dinner at Pizza Hut before catching the show. I found that the Cathay booking system was not as user friendly as the GV one. When you book the tickets, you need to deselect the seats that was allocated by the system before you are allowed to choose a new seat. Also, the payment is not confirmed at the system over the Internet. It was only confirmed at the cinema.

If given the choice, I would have caught the movie @ GV instead.

Which X- Men Am I?

You Are Jean Grey

Although your fate is often unknown, you always seem to survive (even after death).
Your mind is your greatest weapon, literally!

Powers: telepathy and telekinesis, the ability to project thoughts into the mind of others, communication with animals

Relaxed Cool Day

Today is the day where I can kick all my office stuff aside and really concentrate on my exam revision. Mum was in a surprising "not so naggy" mood today. She actually prepared two bottles of drinks for me on my study table. One bottle was plain water, which I was not aware, and the other was orange juice.

Was a good day as I managed to cover what I wanted to cover, the first 5 lectures on inward & outward investments.

World Cup fever is coming. If u ask me who is my pick to win the World Cup, I must say Italy, Brazil, Argentina & Holland may have the chance. It is also the time which I may just join the fun and place somesmall bets on matches. This time round, most likely going to stick to the football betting site based in England, otherwise it will be in Singapore Pools. In the last World Cup, I was off target always, including the final, where I picked the Germans to win Brazil and I lost.

Ole Ole Ole!!!
