Birthday Buffet on 15 Dec 2007

I managed to send out a mass sms to the people that I wished to invite for my birthday informing them about the change of my birthday from a BBQ to a buffet.


I would like to thank Stella for highlighting about the rainy season issue not too long ago. It really slipped my mind that Dec is always the rainy season in Singapore. I would also like to thank Nicole for agreeing to come, abielt on short notice. I would send her a tinker when the date is nearer.


As anticipated, someone changed his mind, Krys,Eriko & Bonnie will not be coming. Anyway I will be confirming the list by 15 Nov to allow Elaine mei to help me & Terence to cater the food from her work place.


I really got to thank Elaine for organising the party for me & Terence. I know she has been very busy too, but she volunteered to do it. I am touched by the gesture from her.

House Visiting & AVietnamese Girlfriend For Me??

I started my day early today at 8.30am. I was helping my mum with the flower decoration & slept at 1am last night. Had received CNY sms messages from my ex colleague, LS, Angela, Rebecca, Darling, Caifeng, Huixuan, Huiyu, Mac, Jaslyn, Joey, Candy , Kelvin, Rich & Mike. Thanks for all your well wishes, my friends. The 1st stop was at my grandma's place, which we were lucky to get a cab almost immediately after waiting for just a short while. In the ride, my mum & I were chatting casually about some issues that happened in S'pore recently, when we actually touched on the old cobbler cheating Vietnamese gals to be his bride. The cabby told us an incident that happened to his friend. His friend, a guy aged 39 had married a Thai gal aged 23 some years ago. Soon after, they became parents to a baby boy. When the boy turned 3, the gal took away the money in the joint bank account with her husband. The savings totalled to about $100,000, which the guy had saved for years fr

There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.
