Ugly Singaporeans Rear Their Heads Again
For the past few days, I have met or read in the papers by several inconsiderate Singaporeans that makes my eyes keep rolling when I see them.
- The rude cab driver who parked at the wrong side of Mediacorp side road and got flimed by a Mediacorp personnel for blocking his way.
This video made its way to Youtube and got removed. I just feel that the guy who flimed the video and posted it on Youtube was in the wrong too. In fact, he has shamed all of us, who are Singaporeans. People who saw the video would have think that we are all like the rude cab driver or the rude person that flimed the act. Fortunately, the video has been taken off Youtube to save us from further embarassment.
- Bus fare cheats
Read about the article in The New Paper a few days ago. The article stated that underpayment or not paying bus fare was a serious problem. To encourage bus drivers to catch these people, bus drivers are given merit points, depending on how many cards they confinscate or under paying commuters they catch.
In the light of bus captains getting abused by nasty passengers getting common and the campaign to stop the abuse, I wonder if this new initative can work as we all know how much a bus captain earns a day after it was publicised in the papers recently. $5.33 an hour for driving on the road. It is no wonder Singaporeans and Malaysians do not want the job. China bus drivers are coming to Singapore soon.
- Young couple kissing on the bus and fidgeting with the ez-link card when they get off
Met by a young couple on a crowded SMRT Service 167 on Wed. Was shocked to see the couple kissing and playing with each other at the entrance. As it was peak hour, a lot of passengers were looking at them. I wonder if this couple knows they are doing something that should be done at home and not on a crowded bus. What's more, when the bus reach their destination, they were fidgeting for their ezlink card at the card machine, making all the commuters fustrated.
- Bus Stop Turned Bus Terminal
Suntec City was closed for JP Morgan Run on Wed. I wonder why did SMRT chose to get its bus inspectors to stop its buses for more than 5 mins at the crowded bus stop at Raffles Hotel for spot checks, leaving a long queue of buses waiting while the inspector take his time to key and communicate with other staff in Marina Centre Terminal. If SBS buses can just loop and go without traffic direction, or should I say, they use their in-vehicle communicator to communicate instructions, it will defintely be faster and more efficient, traffic wise.
