Is Work Bogging Me Down?

My colleague was asking me why I always work beyond the official hours as it appears to her that Paul has no time for relationship. Apparently, she is still in her early 30s despite being a mum to 3 children. But I guess the difference is she is a Malaysian living in Malaysia but working in Singapore. I guessed she is just concerned about me.

Since joining the firm about 3 months ago, I have been asked this question twice by my dept colleague & manager. Fortunately at both times, my manager helped me to answer the question. She said that my mum is helping me look for one. I guessed she is right in some way as mum has been pestering my friends to introduce gals to me. This has made me pretty embrassed in front of my friends.

I guess this job of mine has given me the desired work-life balance, as I am able to reach home by 8pm, rather than last time, where my home was like my hotel room. Sleep, Work, Sleep. I am able to concentrate on my ACCA & other recreational activities better.

As for my colleagues' question, I guess it would be good to keep an open mind as previous chases have made me afraid to go forward to know a gal.

Hi Paul interesting that they chose to ask such personal questions!You must be a nice guy and they want you to be happy but its your life and you do not need them as well as your mum fixing you up! It is hard when mothers do that...she must love you heaps but its your life and am sure if you meet someone it will be on your terms and in your time. You sound like a thoughtful young man.

There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.

Movie Outing Plan With Fellow Blogger Friends

House Visiting & AVietnamese Girlfriend For Me??

I started my day early today at 8.30am. I was helping my mum with the flower decoration & slept at 1am last night. Had received CNY sms messages from my ex colleague, LS, Angela, Rebecca, Darling, Caifeng, Huixuan, Huiyu, Mac, Jaslyn, Joey, Candy , Kelvin, Rich & Mike. Thanks for all your well wishes, my friends. The 1st stop was at my grandma's place, which we were lucky to get a cab almost immediately after waiting for just a short while. In the ride, my mum & I were chatting casually about some issues that happened in S'pore recently, when we actually touched on the old cobbler cheating Vietnamese gals to be his bride. The cabby told us an incident that happened to his friend. His friend, a guy aged 39 had married a Thai gal aged 23 some years ago. Soon after, they became parents to a baby boy.
