Visit of Grandma

I paid a visit to grandma at SGH last nite after my work. She was looking better, in fact much fresher than Saturday when I saw her at the nursing home.

The swelling on her right foot might have been caused by a nurse who mishandled her wheelchair when they were pushing her for her meals. Fortunately, the swelling has since subsided. I heard some bad news about her condition too. She can't afford to fall down again as her ageing body is giving way.

I just hope that the advanced medical technology can help my grandma further.

Movie Outing Plan With Fellow Blogger Friends

I guess Darling, SR & Rich want to watch "Memiors of A Geisha", especially after the ladies were so engrossed in the book at MPH during our last meeting. There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.
