KTV Session & Birthday Celebration For PT & Yan Ling

After a 3 month break, the singing group which I am involved in Facebook was back in action yesterday. This round, my partner, Jonathan Teo has decided to try out a few new measures that we have discussed over the past few meetings and put it into action.

Shortening the Notice Period for each K Session

We have decided to shorten the notice period to about 16 days that we are giving people to decide as it would be good to keep the group at a number that the few of us in the committee could manage. At the same time, it will reduce the possibility of logistics nightmare, like the one we nearly had for the June session.

Switching the session to an afternoon session

We are doing this to keep cost down. At first, we were worried about the lack of response, but after much thought, we decided to go ahead with it. We managed to keep to our usual levels of 23 people yesterday, which is a good sign.

This round, I had a good time, as I managed to sing quite a fair number of songs as there was only 6 people in my room and I need not need to worry about the logistics as my partner was handling it.

This round, we celebrated the birthdays of our regular members, Yanling & Paul Tseng, whose birthdays will be coming up in the following 2 weeks. I have to thank Jas for helping us to get hold of the cake.

I hope that the new members who joined us today, Sam, James, Joe, Alex , Randy  & Rachel enjoyed themselves today.

After the session, we had our dinner at West Coast Plaza, Dian Xiao Er. This was the 1st time I stepped into the shopping centre. This was also the 1st time where I found out that a shopping centre can just turn off its auto taps after a certain period of time. I nearly can’t wash my hands because of this. Talk about H1N1 still going around the world, and this is happening in Singapore.

I would like to thank Josline for offering me a cab ride back home, since she was going to her friend’s place for a mahjong session and also to our cameraman for the day, our Chairman, Lawerence for taking such nice photos for the group.

I joined the Facebook Foodies Club for dinner at Bacchus last night. Yesterday was with a smaller group of people with 11 people. It meant that I had a chance to interact with people and enjoy good food at the same time. I certainly had a good time knowing Deborah, Rene, Wenna, Chris & Catherine. The good part was having my singing buddy, Jonathan around as well, making me able to enjoy the dinner and making friends with relative ease. I must say I enjoyed the food, that I ordered. I ordered the Flumuken,Bawhrust susages and tiramisu cake. You must be thinking that why I ordered so much food. I must say I was very hungry as I didn’t have a filling lunch. Although, it burned a hole in my pocket, but it is certainly good to indulge in myself sometimes! I like the ambience of the restuarant. After the dinner, we indulged ourselves in some German wine before we were asked to pose for photos. After that, we adjourned to Harry’s Bar for a drink and chat session. Jonathan was so afraid

My Hosting Script for The National Day Event

I just managed to work out the draft hosting script for the National Day Event I am hosting. I am thankful for all the comments that I have received from my fellow RC members and friends. Just feel that sometimes, no matter whatever you do, some people, no matter for what reasons, will not be happy with the arrangements. I just wish to say that I am already trying my best to try to get this event going, considering the fact, that this is the 1st time I am organising an RC event. I have also tried my best, despite the fact that I would like to have a free hand to organise the event, just like what I usually do for the KTV events I have on Facebook, I accommodated to the requests that I should somehow follow the past years’ format to do the event. I know that I am not very familiar with how things are run at the RC, therefore in the end, my organising committee only made some changes to the event as we had a limited budget to work on. June Musings

 It has been a while since I last blogged. Since then, I am settling well into my role, although there were some incomings and outgoings, which are common in any workplace.   I managed to catch a last glimpse of Yishun Orto before it closed on 30 June. I would like Leonard, Wendy & Michael, as without them performing at the Happiest Hour Bar & Bistro, I guess I would never go to this place, as I had not so fond memories of a nearby place during my NS days.   I did not manage to get A* Mei or Jacky Cheung concert tickets this round. It could be a sign for me to build up my savings again after an unstable 3 years on the job front. I hope to stay on this job for a while despite its lack of transport amenities and lack of shelters for rain as it is not often that you can have great teams of colleagues and bosses with whom you can get along well. I guess having a boss who is differently abled helps me to settle in well as colleagues tend to be more understanding and caring.
