Happy Belated Birthday To Rachel

I was quite busy with my work recently as my manager is still away on her holiday trip. In fact, a lot of funny things happened in these two weeks. This meant that I didn’t have much time to update my blog or monitor the updated headcount for the Chinese New Year Gathering at my place, which I have posted as a closed event on Facebook. Lucky I posted up the event early, during my leave break 2 weeks ago, otherwise I do not know if I can put up the event last week, given the busy schedule that I had. I thank the 30 guests who have so far confirmed their attendance to the event. Please thank my mum too as she was the one who asked me to invite you all. :-)

I was so busy that I nearly forgotten it was Rachel’s birthday yesterday.

Here’s wishing her have a smooth year ahead. Stay youthful and beautiful always!!!

I certainly hope that her dad makes a speedy recovery from the stroke that he had last week.

House Visiting & AVietnamese Girlfriend For Me??

I started my day early today at 8.30am. I was helping my mum with the flower decoration & slept at 1am last night. Had received CNY sms messages from my ex colleague, LS, Angela, Rebecca, Darling, Caifeng, Huixuan, Huiyu, Mac, Jaslyn, Joey, Candy , Kelvin, Rich & Mike. Thanks for all your well wishes, my friends. The 1st stop was at my grandma's place, which we were lucky to get a cab almost immediately after waiting for just a short while. In the ride, my mum & I were chatting casually about some issues that happened in S'pore recently, when we actually touched on the old cobbler cheating Vietnamese gals to be his bride. The cabby told us an incident that happened to his friend. His friend, a guy aged 39 had married a Thai gal aged 23 some years ago. Soon after, they became parents to a baby boy. There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.
