Day 2 of CNY

It was a tiring day for me yesterday as I went around Serangoon North & Sengkang visiting my relatives.

We set off at about 12 noon to my first uncle’s ( 大舅）place at Serangoon North. I always liked going to their place as my uncle’s 5 children are very lively people. We had a sumptuous lunch there before we played some card games.

Soon my second aunt (二姨）came. She said she wanted to pay a visit to my place, so my brother and I packed up and went home. My aunt helped us with the cutting of the dried barbecue pork that my mum’s boss has given to us as a gift.

After that, we followed her to my 3rd uncle’s (三舅）place, whose block is next to my block. It was always good to catch up with him as even though he stays next to my block, we meet up only during family occasions as we are always busy with our own stuff.

After that, we went home, with the thought of taking a bath, but I received a call from my ex-client that he wanted to give me hongbao, so I had to entertain him for a while.

After that, we went to our 3rd aunt’s (三姨）place. The reason why we headed to her place first before she came to our place is she is working at the airport, and she is working throughout the CNY period. We had a delicious steamboat dinner and an interesting “捞鱼生”session as besides tossing to a good year ahead, we also picked 4 numbers to buy for the next 4D draw on Wednesday.

It was a good catch up session too with my 2 married cousins and their 3 children. Cousin Meiling’s eldest daughter is so shy. She refused to answer my questions when I asked her, while Cousin Meiqing’s only daughter, Yuanxuan, who is a year old is more at ease with the camera.

After that, all of us walked to Sengkang Interchange and headed back home together.

I joined the Facebook Foodies Club for dinner at Bacchus last night. Yesterday was with a smaller group of people with 11 people. It meant that I had a chance to interact with people and enjoy good food at the same time. I certainly had a good time knowing Deborah, Rene, Wenna, Chris & Catherine. The good part was having my singing buddy, Jonathan around as well, making me able to enjoy the dinner and making friends with relative ease. I must say I enjoyed the food, that I ordered. I ordered the Flumuken,Bawhrust susages and tiramisu cake. You must be thinking that why I ordered so much food. I must say I was very hungry as I didn’t have a filling lunch. Although, it burned a hole in my pocket, but it is certainly good to indulge in myself sometimes! I like the ambience of the restuarant. After the dinner, we indulged ourselves in some German wine before we were asked to pose for photos. After that, we adjourned to Harry’s Bar for a drink and chat session. Jonathan was so afraid

My Hosting Script for The National Day Event

I just managed to work out the draft hosting script for the National Day Event I am hosting. I am thankful for all the comments that I have received from my fellow RC members and friends. Just feel that sometimes, no matter whatever you do, some people, no matter for what reasons, will not be happy with the arrangements. I just wish to say that I am already trying my best to try to get this event going, considering the fact, that this is the 1st time I am organising an RC event. I have also tried my best, despite the fact that I would like to have a free hand to organise the event, just like what I usually do for the KTV events I have on Facebook, I accommodated to the requests that I should somehow follow the past years’ format to do the event. I know that I am not very familiar with how things are run at the RC, therefore in the end, my organising committee only made some changes to the event as we had a limited budget to work on. June Musings

 It has been a while since I last blogged. Since then, I am settling well into my role, although there were some incomings and outgoings, which are common in any workplace.   I managed to catch a last glimpse of Yishun Orto before it closed on 30 June. I would like Leonard, Wendy & Michael, as without them performing at the Happiest Hour Bar & Bistro, I guess I would never go to this place, as I had not so fond memories of a nearby place during my NS days.   I did not manage to get A* Mei or Jacky Cheung concert tickets this round. It could be a sign for me to build up my savings again after an unstable 3 years on the job front. I hope to stay on this job for a while despite its lack of transport amenities and lack of shelters for rain as it is not often that you can have great teams of colleagues and bosses with whom you can get along well. I guess having a boss who is differently abled helps me to settle in well as colleagues tend to be more understanding and caring.
