SAFRA Card Surprise

I recently just renewed my SAFRA membership after stopping for about 7 years as I felt that I was not making full use of the membership and I felt that it was quite expensive, considering I don’t earn much money at that time.

I have signed up for the 6 year membership, which entitled me for the TIMEX watch that comes free with it. I heard from a friend that the watch does not come cheap, about the cost of the membership renewal.

Since I have signed up, I must try to make full use of the facilities at the clubhouses.

Movie Outing Plan With Fellow Blogger Friends

I guess Darling, SR & Rich want to watch "Memiors of A Geisha", especially after the ladies were so engrossed in the book at MPH during our last meeting. There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.
