Orderly Queue Day

Today was my 3rd day of duty for the Volunteer e-filing session. I am glad that the queue was quite well maintained today. Thanks to the instructions from Ms Angie Lim, the CC Executive Officer, who is the person in charge of this yearly event at the Serangoon for stating to her colleagues that they had to be firm to those people who are cutting the queue from today, after I reported the queue jumping fiasco last week.

I also would like to thank fellow volunteer, Zhihao, who is doing this for the 1st time, for helping us to maintain the order of the queue control and helping us to do up the 4 line statement for the taxi drivers, thus helping us to save some time, having to ask the taxi drivers the standard questions to fill up the information needed for the 4 line statement.

We had a coffee treat again today. Thanks to a e-filer, Mr. Hon, who gave us $5, telling us to buy coffee with that. It was his 1st visit to the centre, and I am glad that he was happy with my service.

I faced with some problems with 2 taxpayers though. The worst part was that they are both my uncle’s relatives. Both are Malaysians, who are working in Singapore, therefore they may not be eligible to apply for Singpass to e-file their tax return. I have since highlighted the issue to the CC manager, who will forward the matter to IRAS. Hopefully, they will issue an IRAS PIN for them to e-file their taxes soon.

Just a point to highlight, for those people who are under the auto-inclusion scheme, meaning that your employer has filed your salary information to IRAS, you are still required to file your tax return as the auto inclusion is only for your employment and salary information only. You still need to file your tax, as you need to confirm your tax reliefs.

An interesting thing happened at the CC today. I saw the Malay Executive Officer of the CC watching 就想賴著妳. I asked her if she understood what they were saying. She said she was able to understand so long there was english subtitles. I recommended her to watch 下一站, 幸福. She told me she was watching that as well. Taiwanese dramas have Malay fans too !!
