Year 2023 In Review

It has been a while since I last blogged. Time flies as we are approaching a new year in 8 days.

Work

The initial job change did not turn out well and I decided to end the work relations with that employer, which gave me a lot of stress. It took me about a month and 11 job interviews after Chinese New Year to clinch this current post which I did not expect to have turned out well. My friends and family members felt this job was a form of promotion for me. Interestingly, one of my bosses was differently abled just like me and did not mind having me, another differently abled member in his team. It is also fortunate that the various departments can work hand in hand together, and most of the time, we have lunch or potluck in the office together. I would like to thank them for accepting me into the team. Working here has been fun so far despite its challenges.

GUM

I decided to use this acronym to describe my singing group, Singing @ K, and the community tax e-filing program group which I initiated myself this year after one of my singing interest group members met me at one of the events organized by NVPC recently and described the KTV interest group as a GUM as well.

The KTV interest group saw a substantial number of new members in the year, mostly from the meetup platform. During the year, we held monthly events that saw record numbers in the March 2023 and December 2023 events. I would like to thank all members for their unwavering support. Special thanks to my co-host, Annie for playing a part in the success of the group events as well.

The community tax filing group did 5 filing sessions for the self-employed in this year’s tax filing season. I am thankful for the support of my friends, Lancaster and Veronica for supporting this event with their venues to help these unsung heroes to e-file their taxes.

I would like to express my thanks to Lancaster for assisting me with a radio station interview for a shoutout of this program as well.

It was also a year that I attended a physical Leadership Huddle Series organized by NVPC which was filled with insights and impactful.

Looking forward to a smooth year ahead in 2024, just like what I enjoyed since Feb 2023.
