Thanksgiving Lunch

I just got back from the lunch. The lunch was a simple fare buffet lunch. There was still much mee goreng left after we left the centre. Perhaps the manager was expecting most of the volunteers to pop by for the lunch.

I didn't get the chance to see Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, MP for the area. I think she should be busy with her campaign trail for the General Election on Saturday.

Anyway it was a good time catching up with them. It just came to my mind that I forgot to ask the manager when I be getting the award. I also received some advices about my job hunt. The person feels that I should stay on & not to put my expectations so high as there are also people like me who have not been receiving salary increments for a few years.

I wonder how I should react about this. My family is starting to push some financial problems to me when they know that I am only earning this much after CPF deduction. I wonder how long I can hang on. Together with the study stress that I am facing from my mum & work load pressure from my boss. The last thing is my unreasonable colleagues.

I think I be getting more white hair soon.

Er, I dunno, I m hoping for a $150-$200 increase. Is it a lot for a person with 2 and a half yr + exprience?

There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.

Movie Outing Plan With Fellow Blogger Friends

I guess Darling, SR & Rich want to watch "Memiors of A Geisha", especially after the ladies were so engrossed in the book at MPH during our last meeting. House Visiting & AVietnamese Girlfriend For Me??

I started my day early today at 8.30am. I was helping my mum with the flower decoration & slept at 1am last night. Had received CNY sms messages from my ex colleague, LS, Angela, Rebecca, Darling, Caifeng, Huixuan, Huiyu, Mac, Jaslyn, Joey, Candy , Kelvin, Rich & Mike. Thanks for all your well wishes, my friends. The 1st stop was at my grandma's place, which we were lucky to get a cab almost immediately after waiting for just a short while. In the ride, my mum & I were chatting casually about some issues that happened in S'pore recently, when we actually touched on the old cobbler cheating Vietnamese gals to be his bride. The cabby told us an incident that happened to his friend. His friend, a guy aged 39 had married a Thai gal aged 23 some years ago. Soon after, they became parents to a baby boy.
