Using Penknife To Open A Ream Of Paper, Is It Wrong?

I was quite surprised when LB asked me this question today?

Why are you cutting open a ream of paper like that? I was following the centre of the wrapping of the Double A Paper as a guide to cut it. If I just anyhow tear off the wrapping, the wrapping may just stick onto the paper.

Isn't she aware of such a thing?

Eh.. using a penknife is not really encouraged as you might cut through the papers... this will cause more problems.. Haha....

Anyway, what we do is open the ream of paper like a birthday present - gently, the first piece of paper(with the wrapping stuck on it) will be taken out and scrunched up to rub the sides of the stack of paper --> this reduces the risks of getting paper cuts (supposed to soothe the paper, one of the aunties taught me that)
