IT Show 2007

Was supposed to meet up with Huiyu for her birthday dinner, but got the sms from her that she is down with a bad throat & coughing badly, and didn't want to spread her virus to us. She will make up to us on a date to be fixed . I hope it is not after her birthday as it is believed that a birthday celebrated after the person's birthday may bring the person bad luck. Hope that Huiyu recovers soon.

I was elated that Rebecca's operation went on smoothly, and glad that she liked the hamper from us. It is just a show of our concern towards her as a friend. I was quite worried about her operation as it is the eye that u r talking about here. The gift hamper company nearly gave me a fright again. Their order system shows the order was in process when I checked at 4pm. The stupulated time was 2.30pm -5.30pm. In my heart, I was thinking, Rebecca's house address can't be wrong. I have sent greeting cards to her before on that address and she received it. If it is wrong, I have to be a delivery boy again. That will be a nightmare as Kallang to west side of Singapore is very far.

Since the night activity was cancelled, I decided to go to the IT Show at Suntec. Fortunately my pal, Richard decided to come along too. Managed to get for myself a new set of PC speakers at a low price and the thumbdrive that my dad wanted.

After that we had dinner at NYDC before heading home for the night.

House Visiting & AVietnamese Girlfriend For Me??

I started my day early today at 8.30am. I was helping my mum with the flower decoration & slept at 1am last night. Had received CNY sms messages from my ex colleague, LS, Angela, Rebecca, Darling, Caifeng, Huixuan, Huiyu, Mac, Jaslyn, Joey, Candy , Kelvin, Rich & Mike. Thanks for all your well wishes, my friends. The 1st stop was at my grandma's place, which we were lucky to get a cab almost immediately after waiting for just a short while. In the ride, my mum & I were chatting casually about some issues that happened in S'pore recently, when we actually touched on the old cobbler cheating Vietnamese gals to be his bride. The cabby told us an incident that happened to his friend. His friend, a guy aged 39 had married a Thai gal aged 23 some years ago. Soon after, they became parents to a baby boy. There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.
