Eventful Saturday

I stopped myself from going to work yesterday as I knew I need the weekends to pamper myself as I am either left with a Saturday or Sunday to myself for my weekend this month. I have taken leave on 15 Oct 2007 and planning to do the same for 29 Oct as I have full day lessons on the 2 Sundays.

In the morning, I accompanied mum to Tampines Soka Centre for the routine praying session. She was telling me to pray for 2 things.
  1. A better job with better pay & better prospects.
  2. A girlfriend for myself, after I told her I have plans to stay single if there is no right gal that comes along the day before. She was quite disturbed by that. But I am sure regular readers will know why I said that to my mum. :-)

After that, we went to Bedok Centre hawker centre for lunch, before taking the bus to Woodlands. I was asked to conduct a market research for an air-con multi split for the rooms in the house, while she paid a visit to our relative at the old folks home nearby.

The market research didn't yield much results as the system was priced out of our budget. But I managed to get hold of the 2 albums that I have been eyeing for a while.

  2. Kelvin Tan's latest album - I - Wei Lian

After that, we went home. After my bath, I was out of my house to meet my long time net friends, Joey & Rain. We had dinner at Just Noodles at Suntec City. Since it was the first time I was meeting Rain & it had been a while since I met Joey, we chatted for about 3.5 hrs before calling it a night.

I must say that the food at Just Noodles is pretty good. The ladies were suggesting to meet at any of these places when we meet again.

There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.

Movie Outing Plan With Fellow Blogger Friends

I guess Darling, SR & Rich want to watch "Memiors of A Geisha", especially after the ladies were so engrossed in the book at MPH during our last meeting. House Visiting & AVietnamese Girlfriend For Me??

I started my day early today at 8.30am. I was helping my mum with the flower decoration & slept at 1am last night. Had received CNY sms messages from my ex colleague, LS, Angela, Rebecca, Darling, Caifeng, Huixuan, Huiyu, Mac, Jaslyn, Joey, Candy , Kelvin, Rich & Mike. Thanks for all your well wishes, my friends. The 1st stop was at my grandma's place, which we were lucky to get a cab almost immediately after waiting for just a short while. In the ride, my mum & I were chatting casually about some issues that happened in S'pore recently, when we actually touched on the old cobbler cheating Vietnamese gals to be his bride. The cabby told us an incident that happened to his friend. His friend, a guy aged 39 had married a Thai gal aged 23 some years ago. Soon after, they became parents to a baby boy.
