My Job Is Confirmed!

Today was not my pay day officially as I am still under probation, but my colleague and I were called into the meeting room to receive our pay cheques. My boss told me to be discreet about the early payment and at the same time, she has given me the verbal confirmation that my job is confirmed. I am actually looking forward to the letter of official appointment though, as I am hoping for some increment in my pay. Been working for so long, this is the first time I got confirmed within 2 months. This comes after a meeting 3 days ago when my partner said that she is happy with my performance.

Was disappointed that a long time friend of mine poured cold water, saying that I shouldn't be looking forward to an increment as bosses nowadays seldom give increment after confirmation. I think I made the right decision not to tell this friend first when the news broke.

Anyway, I would like to thank these friends who have given me words of support and encouragement when I broke the news to them.

If its your own perception that the long time friend is pouring cold water, then I suggest you rethink. I guess he must be more disappointed, if he is reading this comment on himself. I am sure he wont like to be a subject of your criticism time and time again, considering the long friendship between both of you. Maybe you can consider putting yourself in others' position before you make a conclusion at times. It's not always your thought that counts.

Anyone can give his/her opinions based on his own experience. Did he say there is no possiblity of any increment? Eventually, the decision you made was not right, since you have told him yourself.

Congraluation Paul...keep up the good work. I know an increment is important but for a start it shows that your boss appreciate your hard work and confirm you earlier....strive on Paul!!

congrats! well, i don't think your friend intends to hurt you.
for us working here, we don't get increment til you work for a year. hopefully, your review will be good. then again it's not guaranteed. so, what to do???

i think you should wait and see what happens. most important that you're appreciated.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I am just surprised that I was confirmed so early, as I was only confirmed much later at my old firm.

I agree with what Shionge and Dalicia has said abt the pay increment part. Its up to the boss' decision. I am basically quite happy with what I am getting now, considering that I had a hefty jump on my pay when I left for this job.

I am quite happy that my views and work ideas were considered and implemented and my bosses are happy with it.

I joined the Facebook Foodies Club for dinner at Bacchus last night. Yesterday was with a smaller group of people with 11 people. It meant that I had a chance to interact with people and enjoy good food at the same time. I certainly had a good time knowing Deborah, Rene, Wenna, Chris & Catherine. The good part was having my singing buddy, Jonathan around as well, making me able to enjoy the dinner and making friends with relative ease. I must say I enjoyed the food, that I ordered. I ordered the Flumuken,Bawhrust susages and tiramisu cake. You must be thinking that why I ordered so much food. I must say I was very hungry as I didn’t have a filling lunch. Although, it burned a hole in my pocket, but it is certainly good to indulge in myself sometimes! I like the ambience of the restuarant. My Hosting Script for The National Day Event

I just managed to work out the draft hosting script for the National Day Event I am hosting. I am thankful for all the comments that I have received from my fellow RC members and friends. Just feel that sometimes, no matter whatever you do, some people, no matter for what reasons, will not be happy with the arrangements. I just wish to say that I am already trying my best to try to get this event going, considering the fact, that this is the 1st time I am organising an RC event. I have also tried my best, despite the fact that I would like to have a free hand to organise the event, just like what I usually do for the KTV events I have on Facebook, I accommodated to the requests that I should somehow follow the past years’ format to do the event. I know that I am not very familiar with how things are run at the RC, therefore in the end, my organising committee only made some changes to the event as we had a limited budget to work on. June Musings

 It has been a while since I last blogged. Since then, I am settling well into my role, although there were some incomings and outgoings, which are common in any workplace.   I managed to catch a last glimpse of Yishun Orto before it closed on 30 June. I would like Leonard, Wendy & Michael, as without them performing at the Happiest Hour Bar & Bistro, I guess I would never go to this place, as I had not so fond memories of a nearby place during my NS days.   I did not manage to get A* Mei or Jacky Cheung concert tickets this round. It could be a sign for me to build up my savings again after an unstable 3 years on the job front. I hope to stay on this job for a while despite its lack of transport amenities and lack of shelters for rain as it is not often that you can have great teams of colleagues and bosses with whom you can get along well. I guess having a boss who is differently abled helps me to settle in well as colleagues tend to be more understanding and caring.
