Birthday Celebration for Mum

I was asked to tag along my mum’s birthday celebration yesterday by my cousin, Adel when I met her at AMK MRT Station on Monday.

I knew that mum had always enjoyed Japanese food, therefore I suggested that we should have Japanese food for her birthday. But the wish was not granted as the queue was too long. We waited for about half an hour for a table, but could not get any.

In the end, we ended up going to Fish & Co. I thought the lobsters 1 for 1 offer was good. The salmon and the strawberry cake were not bad too. The best part, there was a Polaroid photo for keepsake.

I felt bad that my cousin treated my mum & I to the meal as I knew she had to contribute a fair bit to her family expenses.

Movie Outing Plan With Fellow Blogger Friends

I guess Darling, SR & Rich want to watch "Memiors of A Geisha", especially after the ladies were so engrossed in the book at MPH during our last meeting. There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.
