Short Break For Paul From Work

I have decided to give myself a break from the workload that I was having since I came back from my family trip from Shanghai last June, so as to recharge my batteries and start the next busy period for personal tax filing in late Feb & early Mar. Little did I expect myself to fall sick on the second night of my leave, nursing a fever, which got better today.

Wednesday

I had the opportunity to meet up with Grace from IRAS. Grace had been assisting me with the technical problems which I faced at work. The problem was finally solved on 2 January 2013, after a 6 month wait. Sometimes I wonder if boasting about “world class tax system” that we have helps because such a system fault should be resolved within a shorter time frame.

Lunch was at the vegetarian  lingzhi restaurant at Novena Square.This restaurant, operated by the Tung Lok Group serves food that I feel that it is not oily and taste not bad too. I also did not know that they have a branch at Liat Towers as well.

After the wonderful lunch, I decided to reward myself with some shopping therapy at Junction 8. I was given Capitalland vouchers for my birthday but did not have the chance to use it, so decided to get myself some new working wear from G2000 to usher in the Lunar New Year. In the end, I managed to get two working shirts & a pair of working pants for myself. I was a little disappointed that I did not manage to get one of the colours that I wanted. I hope to find it in other G2000 stores before the Lunar New Year.

Thursday

I caught Les Miserables on Thursday afternoon. I had wanted to catch Taxi Taxi, but it was too bad, as I had felt that the timings were a little too rush for me. The change was right as I really enjoyed the movie, especially with Anne Hathaway’s performance.

Friday

A visit to the Marine Life Park at Resorts World Sentosa was planned immediately after I applied for the leave. I must say that I was not disappointed by the Marine Life Park’s showcase of fishes and other sea animals. I took the opportunity to visit the museum for free as well, since it was incorporated into the ticket. It was definitely a good first visit to RWS.

I joined the Facebook Foodies Club for dinner at Bacchus last night. Yesterday was with a smaller group of people with 11 people. It meant that I had a chance to interact with people and enjoy good food at the same time. I certainly had a good time knowing Deborah, Rene, Wenna, Chris & Catherine. The good part was having my singing buddy, Jonathan around as well, making me able to enjoy the dinner and making friends with relative ease. I must say I enjoyed the food, that I ordered. I ordered the Flumuken,Bawhrust susages and tiramisu cake. You must be thinking that why I ordered so much food. I must say I was very hungry as I didn’t have a filling lunch. Although, it burned a hole in my pocket, but it is certainly good to indulge in myself sometimes! I like the ambience of the restuarant. My Hosting Script for The National Day Event

I just managed to work out the draft hosting script for the National Day Event I am hosting. I am thankful for all the comments that I have received from my fellow RC members and friends. Just feel that sometimes, no matter whatever you do, some people, no matter for what reasons, will not be happy with the arrangements. I just wish to say that I am already trying my best to try to get this event going, considering the fact, that this is the 1st time I am organising an RC event. I have also tried my best, despite the fact that I would like to have a free hand to organise the event, just like what I usually do for the KTV events I have on Facebook, I accommodated to the requests that I should somehow follow the past years’ format to do the event. I know that I am not very familiar with how things are run at the RC, therefore in the end, my organising committee only made some changes to the event as we had a limited budget to work on. June Musings

 It has been a while since I last blogged. Since then, I am settling well into my role, although there were some incomings and outgoings, which are common in any workplace.   I managed to catch a last glimpse of Yishun Orto before it closed on 30 June. I would like Leonard, Wendy & Michael, as without them performing at the Happiest Hour Bar & Bistro, I guess I would never go to this place, as I had not so fond memories of a nearby place during my NS days.   I did not manage to get A* Mei or Jacky Cheung concert tickets this round. It could be a sign for me to build up my savings again after an unstable 3 years on the job front. I hope to stay on this job for a while despite its lack of transport amenities and lack of shelters for rain as it is not often that you can have great teams of colleagues and bosses with whom you can get along well. I guess having a boss who is differently abled helps me to settle in well as colleagues tend to be more understanding and caring.
