The Joy of Giving & Sharing

Having been volunteering my services to the community for the past 10 years, I have come to realise that rewards will come, once people recognise your efforts, the rewards will come. Therefore, we should not be disheartened if we are not rewarded at the first or second time. One should wait patiently for his or her turn.

However, we must not be greedy and always expect a reward in return. I always believe that Heaven is watching our every move. Your greed for rewards and recognition will be your undoing in some part of your life. Also, I feel that it is not right to steal other people’s credit or achievement and take it as your own.

Volunteering is not a paid job, therefore people should not expect a lot from the volunteers, like what they expect from a salaried employee. Volunteers usually have their salaried job, business profession to look after as it is for part of their livelihoods.

The main satisfaction you gain from volunteering is the smiles on the faces from the people that gained from your help.
