A Fun Filled Birthday Celebration for 2 Weeks

The 1st birthday celebration that I had done was for my KTV co-partner cum close friend, Raymond. Dinner was at the Sakura International Buffet at Dhoby Ghaut. I would like to thank Evelyn for recommending the place as this would be a good dress rehearsal for the VES Volunteer Gathering in Dec.

Raymond had brought along his wife to introduce to us. This was also the 1st birthday celebration that I have attended without a birthday cake. We got him a tablet PC for his birthday.

The 2nd birthday celebration which I had planned was for one of my sisters, Angela. We had a Japanese lunch at Itacho at Ion Orchard, which Xiuling & Jia Jie were invited as well. We got the Crumpler Warfie for the birthday gal, which she topped a part of it herself.

After which, I joined the birthday gal for a movie, Blind Detective, starring Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng. The acting by the leads were good but the script was a little draggy.

Hope that my friends enjoyed what was planned for them by me.

Movie Outing Plan With Fellow Blogger Friends

I guess Darling, SR & Rich want to watch "Memiors of A Geisha", especially after the ladies were so engrossed in the book at MPH during our last meeting. There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.
