Busy August

It has been a busy month for me this month that I actually was sick for about 2 weeks. The recovery process was slow. I guess it was due to the hazy weather. Work has not been smooth at recent times, therefore I guessed it played a part in my recent bout of illness.

Besides work, I had kept my sanity by attending the following events in August.

  • National Day Funpack Distribution – 1 Aug 2015

In celebration of SG50, I had led this event to distribute the funpacks to each household. This event made me learnt several things about the residents in my neighbourhood. Not only that, the Singa & the bag designs has been popular topics in this Funpack Distribution Exercise.

  • National Day Observance Ceremony – 9 Aug 2015

This was my first national day observance ceremony. It was a great experience , especially listening to the Proclamation of Independence. It reinforces my belief that why I am proud to be a Singaporean & thankful to be one.

  • National Day Parade – 9 Aug 2015

This was my 2nd NDP, after last year. I would like to thank my RC Chairman & Constituency Manager for giving me the tickets so that I can experience the 50th birthday bash of Singapore. Although, reaching home was a nightmare, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

  • Silent Heroes Award – 22 Aug 2015

I had not expected to be nominated and winning for this award by my fellow volunteer friend, Haris. He felt that I have contributed a lot to the community despite my disability. Personally I prefer to be a little low profile about my contributions, as I feel that I am just doing my bit for the society.

  • SG 50 Concert – 7 Aug 2015

I would like to thank Chloe for inviting me to this concert that showcases Singapore’s music for the past 50 years. This also marks my 1st visit to the refurbished National Stadium after it opened.

  • 1st Group KTV event @ Voice Art – 29 Aug 2015

It has been a while since I changed location for my singing group events. If not for the bad services & increase in costs, I would prefer to remain it at status quo.

I am glad that most of you enjoyed yesterday’s session. I would like to thank some of the members, who have since became my friends who recommended me this place some time ago and showing their Basupport for me when I organised the event at this place.

I do hope all who attended had fun. I am glad to have received encouraging & positive feedback. I am trying my best to make it better as well.

I joined the Facebook Foodies Club for dinner at Bacchus last night. Yesterday was with a smaller group of people with 11 people. It meant that I had a chance to interact with people and enjoy good food at the same time. I certainly had a good time knowing Deborah, Rene, Wenna, Chris & Catherine. The good part was having my singing buddy, Jonathan around as well, making me able to enjoy the dinner and making friends with relative ease. I must say I enjoyed the food, that I ordered. I ordered the Flumuken,Bawhrust susages and tiramisu cake. You must be thinking that why I ordered so much food. I must say I was very hungry as I didn’t have a filling lunch. Although, it burned a hole in my pocket, but it is certainly good to indulge in myself sometimes! I like the ambience of the restuarant. After the dinner, we indulged ourselves in some German wine before we were asked to pose for photos. After that, we adjourned to Harry’s Bar for a drink and chat session. Jonathan was so afraid

My Hosting Script for The National Day Event

I just managed to work out the draft hosting script for the National Day Event I am hosting. I am thankful for all the comments that I have received from my fellow RC members and friends. Just feel that sometimes, no matter whatever you do, some people, no matter for what reasons, will not be happy with the arrangements. I just wish to say that I am already trying my best to try to get this event going, considering the fact, that this is the 1st time I am organising an RC event. I have also tried my best, despite the fact that I would like to have a free hand to organise the event, just like what I usually do for the KTV events I have on Facebook, I accommodated to the requests that I should somehow follow the past years’ format to do the event. I know that I am not very familiar with how things are run at the RC, therefore in the end, my organising committee only made some changes to the event as we had a limited budget to work on. June Musings

 It has been a while since I last blogged. Since then, I am settling well into my role, although there were some incomings and outgoings, which are common in any workplace.   I managed to catch a last glimpse of Yishun Orto before it closed on 30 June. I would like Leonard, Wendy & Michael, as without them performing at the Happiest Hour Bar & Bistro, I guess I would never go to this place, as I had not so fond memories of a nearby place during my NS days.   I did not manage to get A* Mei or Jacky Cheung concert tickets this round. It could be a sign for me to build up my savings again after an unstable 3 years on the job front. I hope to stay on this job for a while despite its lack of transport amenities and lack of shelters for rain as it is not often that you can have great teams of colleagues and bosses with whom you can get along well. I guess having a boss who is differently abled helps me to settle in well as colleagues tend to be more understanding and caring.
