Joint Birthday Celebration Plan

Terence & I are looking at booking a chalet for our birthday celebration in December. We are wondering if our friends in blogger and my poly friends will be interested to join us before making a decision on whether we will go ahead & book the chalet.
The date that we are looking at is 15 Dec for a day & nite as I have a tight schedule of exams, work & a wedding dinner to attend in that week. I guess that is the only day that everyone should be ok as it is a Sat.

Movie Outing Plan With Fellow Blogger Friends

I guess Darling, SR & Rich want to watch "Memiors of A Geisha", especially after the ladies were so engrossed in the book at MPH during our last meeting. There are certain things which some Chinese are pretty particular with:- Happy and sad events can't clash together within 100 days to a year. If a relative or loved one were to pass away, the immediate family member can't attend a happy event, like wedding & housewarming. The Teochews treat their eldest male grandchild as their youngest son. If you are getting married & your friend who is getting married invites you to his wedding, u are not allowed to attend. The old people say happy events clash. The red packet can't be given twice for a happy event. Likewise for the condolence packet. One should not give shoes or lamp to a birthday boy or gal, as it is believed that you may bring the person to his deathbed. These are some interesting stuff to share, especially to some blog readers who are not living in a place filled with Chinese.
