Handover Blues

As most of you know that my last day of my job tomorrow. My boss has been giving me a black face the past few days. In fact he has been scolding me for the past few days. I have been trying to hand over some "My Tax Portal" stuff to him but he seem agitated these few days, especially today. I have tried my best to explain certain things to him, but he chose not to listen but shouted at me instead. He also kept throwing out new work, take his time to review the things that I gave to him. He asked me to prepare a list of outstanding things to give to him. I wanted to do it but I am always disrupted by new work. Well, since he treats me like that, I am just going to try my best to do a proper handover. There is not even a staff that I could hand over to anyway. Mum was saying that I should not go for my colleague's wedding. I feel that its a different matter altogether. I feel that I should go since I am quite close with her. Mum is of the view that my bosses or the b*...

Jeff Chang Concert

Image
Will be catching his concert as a form of my relaxation and break from my old job, and a signal to my new job. Have to thank my new friend, A for agreeing to join me for the concert at Max Pavillion on 15 March 2008.

Thank You

Wish to thank YC & Darling for helping me vet through the departure letter and manual. Thanks for the comments about the letter being about how I feel about working in the firm. I appreciate the time that you gals spent to help me vet the letter and manual.

Eventful Monday

Image
Had an embrarassing moment in the office washroom today as the zipper and the button of my pants gave way as I was trying to do my big business. I tried to use paper clips to and my shirt to cover up, but to no avail. I had to buy a new G2000 pants after work & wore it on the spot. I wonder how I survive through the whole working day in this manner. The HR manager has asked me to stay for another day to facilitate the easy calculation of my salary. My colleagues got their pay today, but I have not. Anyway, I have told her that I will be back for half a day on 29 Feb. My new boss had called me up today to reconfirm my start date at the new firm as she forgot that 1 March is Sat when she typed the letter. She has reconfirmed that I would start on 3 March. She asked me to bring my coat in case I felt cold, and a cup for hot drinks. Met up with LS after work. I did not know that he wanted to bring me to Suntec's Food Republic, so I suggested to have Swensens instead. Both ...

A Surprise Visitor

Today, I got a surprise visit from Jason's mum, who came to visit me & paid me a part of Jason's debt for his notebook. I actually told her that there was no need to repay me as I treated`the sum owed as a gift to my good NS pal, but auntie kept insisting of returning. In the end, at my neighbour's urging, I decided that I will take the payment as full settlement of the debt The last thing I want is to put stress on auntie to pay off her son's debt as the family is not financially well off. She shared with me and my mum the reason why she decided to cremate my buddy on the day of his passing. She was deeply saddened by the sudden loss of her son and was worried that she will be very upset facing his wake for a number of days. She said that she would be burning Jason's belongings to him on the 100th day of his death at the end of next month. Time flies. My buddy is not with me for 2 months already. I told auntie that we would continue to keep in touch and I am ve...

Eat, Eat Eat Saturday

Image
Had bread for breakfast with mum at home at 9.45am. Had fish soup for lunch at coffee shop at 1.30pm Had roti prata with Eddie at Springleaf at 4.30pm Had sushi dinner at AMK Hub at 6.30pm with Germaine & Desmond.   I seem like eating non-stop on a Saturday. Am I too stressed? How much weight I need to lose?

Letter & Training Manual Completed

Image
I have completed my letter and training manual today in 6 hrs. I hope my boss appreciate my effort in the training manual prepared and would not find my exit letter too harshly worded. I have asked my friends to help me vet the letter and training manual. I take the opportunity to thank N first for vetting my training manual. You may wonder why I would do the training manual and departure letter. The training manual is to facilitate my successor (who has not been hired yet, despite my lady boss offering a remuneration package that is higher than my new job in her recruitment ad placed on the paper on last Sat). I wonder if she was out to make me upset about leaving the firm. The departure letter is a summary of my happiness and sadness that culumiated in my decision to leave. Like what TC said, "you have to make your boss miss you and ask you to stay, but you must be firm about not staying". I will definitely miss the care and concern of those auntie colleagues when ...

While waiting for the slow loading of the "My Tax Portal", just wish to share 2 interesting horoscope that I have heard on YES 933 yesterday and today on Jiafa's programme. It seems quite accurate for me.

A Pleasant Surprise

Image
I got a pleasant surprise yesterday afternoon when my colleague, SC handed me her wedding reception invitation card. I will be attending the reception to share her joy of marriage with her.

Pissed By A Client

I tried to explain to a client that he had not e-mailed a particular document, which is not under my purview or job scope to me, but to my boss and my accounting dept colleague. He just refused to listen to my explaination, making me want to flare up. He said I should be responsible in a rude tone. How can I be responsible for something that is not under my purview? If I don't go by the philosphy that customers is always right, just give them what they want, I would have turned nasty. 8 days more to go to new job. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for the Support

Would like to thank some of my friends, DT, TC, EW, ET, SC, NO, ET, EP, R, KW,TL HY & Von for their consolation after they knew that I failed my ACCA papers. Despite getting the lowest in history (wonder how to face mum's nagging as I blog this.) DT was telling me just tell mum that I will try to do well, since I am moving on to a new job soon. ET said I am still young to try again. KW said my work in the firm could be the cause of that, especially during that busy period in Nov & Dec. ACCA is really not easy to study. Now I really know why. I am immune to failure already. I am going for it. after I take my Corporate Reporting In June

Brain Teaser

Mum shared with me this brain teaser that she read on the Chinese newspaper yesterday nite. I thought it was interesting and decided to share with you guys. A family of 3 people, Hubby, Wife & Mother-In Law  went to Country X for a holiday. When they reached a crowded shopping area, Mother In Law suddenly blurted out a phrase that was considered as disrespect to the community. The family were escorted back to the police station. The police officer told them that they had said something wrong and had to be caned 50 strokes each. But because they were tourists, they were allowed to be granted a wish before the punishment is meted. Wife requested for a blanket to cover her butt. As the blanket didn't cover her back & neck, she suffered the strokes in pain. Mum In Law requested for a blanket to cover her butt & back. The punishment was meted out. The mum in law suffered the punishment relaxingly. Hubby requested for 100 strokes & his mum-in law to be tied...

CNY Visiting

Image
Today, I got up at about 10am in order to pay a visit to my 2 pregrant friends, Darling & Caifeng. Set off at about 11am to Potong Pasir, where Darling is currently living. I must say that the security guard has a good memory as he could remember the residents staying in the unit. I think the most important thing staying in a condo is the sense of security. The security guard has shown that he is able to carry out his duties well. I had a nice chat session with Mr Tan & Darling. I also had a chance to tour their love nest and I am very impressed by it. I would like to thank Mr Tan for the ride to Tanah Merah MRT in order for me to get to my next destination faster. I was invited by Caifeng to go to her place for lunch today. I was the 2nd last person to be there. Her parents thought that I had lost my way. Stella, Peifen & Loy Chuan were already there. Caifeng's house aretafacts of clogs, abacus, paintings impressed me. I was surprised by her spacious master bedro...

Farewell Lunch & CNY Mini Gathering

Image
I was treated to a farewell lunch by my colleagues Q, L, I  & AT today. The two typists, who are also leaving soon were also invited. Lunch was at the recommended Hup Kee Chicken Rice at Jalan Sultan. I must the chicken taste very good. I would like to thank them for the meal. On the same note, I would like to thank L for the little piece of advice she gave me for my new job. I am glad that she appreciates my helpful nature during my tenure here.   I was invited to a home party in the evening by my bus captain friend, Ricky & his wife, Eileen in the evening. The invitation was sealed when I took Service 16 to class on Tuesday. The party was filled with food, prepared by Eileen. She was saying that she didn't really got a chance to sleep after being on the night shift the day before. I must say the food is delicious as it was not too salty nor too oily. The party ended with a cake cutting event as it is Ricky's birthday in 2 days time. I really enjoy the...

CNY Lunch @ Parkroyal @ Kitchener

Image
Picture courtesy of Parkroyal Group of Hotel Today was the office annual CNY lunch. This year is quite special as We tried out a new place for our annual CNY lunch - Hai Xiang Resturant at Parkroyal @ Kitchener Hotel This will be my last lunch gathering with my colleagues at this firm. As usual, my colleagues do not wish to sit with the 3 bosses of the firm. It always ended up with me & Q having to sit together with the bosses and my boss had to select another few people to join my table. The 2 lucky people selected were SC & B for this round. I was quite surprised that my boss had ordered the "Prosperity" menu, which cost $688++. He kept asking me to eat more. Maybe that's his way of showing his appreciation for my service to the firm. It ended up that I had :- 2 servings of shark fins 2 servings of roasted pork 2 servings of desert 3 pieces of nian gao This goes to prove what L said is true. I am going to miss this place ...

Happy Valentine's Day

Image
Send this eCard ! Just wish to wish all my blog readers who are attached out there. A Happy Valentine's Day Treasure the one that you love deeply Appreciate your partner for what he or she has done for you Keep the spark of the relationship going!!!   For those who are single and available, please treat the day like a friendship day in celebration of friendship between your friends! Would like to thank YC for the early Valentine's Day sms to me yesterday. Unlike last year where I gave a gift to someone, this year, I would not be doing anything. Actually, I thought of giving something, but, I was put off by the inflated prices during this season andI am planning to give parting gifts to my colleagues and bosses. Knowing that mum is going to scream at me again if I burn a hole in my pocket for a bonquet of inflated price flowers. I know the lady I am going to give to may say that I should not have spent the money on this...

Steamboat Dinner @ Bugis

Image
Met up with Nicole for steamboat dinner at Bugis just now. We had a gift exchange session too as we missed each other's birthdays. The dinner was good, just that there were too little green vegetables. We had a nice chat about our jobs, BGR and our studies that we had a 3 hour dinner session, before she offered me a cab ride home. I am glad that she likes the watch that I have chosen for her. I liked the T-shirt she chose for me as well. It is always good to make someone's day by cheering a person up.

Where Is My Successor?

Image
My boss was hinting to me that she is having difficuities to find a person to take over my duties once I leave the company in 15 days time. I told her that I should be writing down what are the things to look out for when my successor takes over. My mum was saying that actually now is the best time to find a person. Her guess is that my boss may have problems matching the remuneration package on the market now. I am telling myself not to be soft hearted as I will lose out on a better prospect and better pay if I should stay. I also do not want to get sued in court as my appointment letter is signed.

Dramas & Movie CNY

Image
Besides the normal visiting of relatives for CNY, I managed to watch these 2 dramas & a movie for the 6 days of CNY. (War of In-Laws) This drama, recommended by my long time net friend, Stella, stars Liza Wang, Myolie Wu & Bosco Wong. The drama talks about a thief who wanted to escape from the old time guards and ended up getting married into the royal family. The princess (Liza Wang) makes life difficuit for her daughter-in law (Myolie Wu) and try to create problems between her son (Bosco Wong) & daughter-in law. Overall I must say it is a good drama as it taught me how to get along with my future mum-in law (if I ever get married!!!) (War of In-Laws 2) This drama, starring Myolie Wu, Liza Wang & Bosco Wong is the modern version of War of In-Laws 1. The storyline is similar to War of In-Laws 1. If you ask me which version I prefer, I must say both versions are pretty good. Kung Fu Dunk Shi-Jie (Jay Chou), grew up in a ma...

Image
Because of the Lunar New Year festivities for the past few days, I nearly forgot that it was Nicole's birthday yesterday. This post is dedicated to her. May what she wishes for come true for her. Hope she have good health & stay beautiful always. Hope that she gets appreciated by the special someone that has captured her heart soon!

Chinese Zodiac Horoscope for 2008

Image
I just found out from the Carlsberg website has the analysis of the indivdual 12 zodiac signs for the Year of the Rat. 2008 Forecast for the Year of the Rat Rat Ox Tiger Rabbit Dragon Snake Horse Goat Monkey Rooster Dog Pig I hope what stated for me can be true. Anyway the horoscope has always been a guide to me but I always enjoy reading it.

What A Start to Year of Rat

Image
My family was on our way to visit my grandmother for CNY when my dad drove his cab & "kissed" the bumper of the vehicle in front of him at the CTE. Fortunately, the dent of the bumper of the car was a small one. My dad still manage to keep his spirits up by saying that Chinese New Year, just be happy. Mum was not too happy that I didn't alert my dad of the car in front of him and she was there cursing & swearing, shouting. I guess my dad was angry already, therefore a shouting match ensued I just hope money can settle the small dent of the vehicle. The fortunate thing is that we are alright.

CNY Eve Meetup

Image
Met up with my long time net friend, Grace who is back from Austraila for CNY yesterday. We met up at Vivocity and had lunch at the Swensens Resturant. I really like the location of the resturant as I can catch the good view of the sea & the Sentosa bridge. It really lighten the mood that I was having in the morning as I was awakened by the blaring car alarm at about 8am. Had a good catch up with Grace, with regards to about working in Austraila. It seems like there is several good points about working there, as there is work & life balance. The unions fight for your rights as an employees too. You can voice about your unhappiness about your peers at work, unlike in Singapore, where the fear that we may lose our job keep us from telling about our co-workers. After the lunch session, Grace & I went to explore Vivocity before we parted ways at about 5pm for our indivdual reunion dinners.

Love Horoscope for the Lunar New Year

Dedicated to Darling

This post is for my dear friend, Darling who just lost her cousin in a car accident recently. As a friend, I share your loss of your loved one. Please be strong and take good care of yourself. I am sure your cousin don't want to see you be sad because of him. This song is dedicated to her.

MRT

S: XXX finished already Me: CY just give me 5 mins ago for it to be done. I am wondering who taught S her manners. Even doing big business needs time & patience to close a deal. Lucky only 24 days to freedom. Was so angry by the way she said it.

Image
I just finished watching this drama, starring Ekin Cheng, Bowie Lam & Chermaine Sheh as officers working for the Government Flying Service Dept of HK. This story I feel that it is not bad, as I liked the adventures and the cases that these guys were asked to help to solve. I liked the child who played as Bowie's son, Jacky & the gal who played as a disabled communication officer, Nikki. I think my character is very similar to hers. This story is about:- 「政府飛行服務隊」(GFS)是特區政府七支紀律部隊中人數最少,但服務範圍卻最大的精銳部隊。
